does anyone know a writer interested in akira kurosawa-style storytelling/characters/pacing? does anyone?!?!?! yes? no? c'mon, stop messing me around!!! i don't know why i put up with this...
hello rohun-vanhart and thanks for your message...
within this thread of my journal, please read the post i wrote directly above your response. if your story fits within the range i have tried to set, i'd be happy to check it out if you find the time.
I'm afraid i don't have the time/strengh right now for been so collaborative in a plot/storyline creation. I wish.
I understood you needed a story. That's what I've got written and offered to you, but maybe it hasn't as much action as I now realize you may like to be there...
So, I'll wait for your work on the subject with whoever you choose.
I've seen a few of Akira Kurosawa's movies from various periods of his career and I really couldn't pin down what you were asking for here, especially since he's done a little over a two dozen films. Are you looking to have a story that is meant to have a feel specific to a given period in his career, or are there particular movies you're seeking to draw influences from in particular to the story you're seeking to have done?
i am looking to collaborate with a writing partner for a one-shot comic project existing in the same era and tone as the standard kurosawa films one might expect - 'seven samurai', 'the hidden fortress', 'yojimbo', 'sanjuro' (and also the not-kurosawa series 'zatoichi' ). an homage to the 50's/early 60's chambara movies, complete with the regular cast of feeble peasants, thug brigands, greedy merchants, and a drifting ronin-with-no-name, etc, etc, etc... i'm not looking for magic swords, ninja demon clans or flying wire-fu - just variations on the conventions used in the examples i've mentioned. i want the influences to be unabashedly worn on the sleeve.
if you are knowledgeable of and would enjoy working within the genre, please let me know.
thanks to every person who contacted me. there were many good ideas full of actions and creativity.
It's in spanish thou, but would be no problem in translation.
If you're interested, let me know, 'couse, i've always had a very visual idea on that story, but not the time/strenght/talent to draw it.
