what is the better version of the song "music to watch girls by" - the instrumental stylings of herb alpert and the tijuana brass or andy williams vocal rendition?
this is an impossible question to answer. a riddle for the ages. i expect no responses to this.
I like Andy for his swifter tempo, which has more of a groove than the Brass, but you're right: it's a very even fight. Personally, though, I submit Bob Crewe Generation as a write-in candidate.
yes, the andy williams version has the better tempo, which one may figure wouldn't be the case. this tempo difference makes me, at times, believe andy's is the best...
you are the second fellow to mention bob crewe, so i'll seek that out. thank, CF000!
For instrumental, in my opinion, Herb Albert's is the best. Andy Williams definitely has the best vocal version. Between the two it's hard to pick a best but I think I lean toward Herb Albert's. But, to each their own.
Also kinda like versions from The Ventures, The Tiki Tones and Bob Crewe Generation (though I think the opening on Bob's is a bit bloated). The Higson's 80's British pop version is fun. Seems to have just a tiny touch of Cure-like darkness to it.
