is it wrong that i am curious about the movie jonah hex? all reviews are bad, but are there any redeeming factors? let me know, as i hesitate to waste the time watching a show with such negative heralds... also, i feel this way towards green lantern...

Well, it's got it's funny moments--one of the first scenes with Hex on his horse was BRILLIANT. Brolin himself plays a really solid Hex, and there are some fun steampunk elements. I'm not sure if I'd wholeheartedly recommend the movie, but I wouldn't try to turn someone away from watching it either. I can think of FAR WORSE movie adaptations.

see, this is what i was thinking - you mention 'funny'. so i wonder if it is meant a winky cheesy movie, or if it is so misguided that it is funny?

i am not a fan of brolin (though i don't really have a reason as to why not). also, i am a huge unfan of anything steampunk... i am a follower of traditional westerns, so i really wonder if this movie will rub me the wrong way and cause irreparable damage to my fragile psyche.

i must add that i always love malkovich.

thanks very much for your reply!

To be fair, it's kind of a dark humor. In one of the first scenes has Jonah facing off against five guys. He notes three coffins sitting on the side nearby and says, "Three coffins. You shoulda brought eight." That made me and my dad laugh a bit.

But yeah, it's definitely not a traditional western in that there's some "semi-future elements." The plot revolves around a boat machine that shoots super-powered bombs, described as a nation killer. One action sequence has Jonah shooting crossbow rifles that shoot sticks of lit dynamite. Stuff like that.

No problem--I kinda have a feeling this is one of those movies where you bring a few friends and a six-pack with you to make up your own entertainment to go with it.

Well, I can't really say I'm a big fan of the comics but Jonah Hex is just an awful movie, I don't think there's anything positive to it, maybe Megan Fox in Cancan attire but not really much more.

My top ten worst include for instance Dr. T and the Women, Wolverine Origins, Elektra was pretty bad too and Batman & Robin. I'm sure there are others but those are off the top of my head.

You can see three comic book movies up there because I'm really annoyed when they screw up amazing source material, I feel the same way about Jonah Hex ;)

I hope that helps, pal!
