*GL was pretty good. Although it can be confusing if you are not familiar with the mythos.
*The writer for jonah hex must think all comic book characters are superheroes because hex has a superpower in the movie...

Me and my dad went to see it in the theaters together, I thought it was pretty good, definitely not oscar material or anything but I felt they got a good mixture of action, humor, camp and macabre. the only complaints I had with it was it was a little too shallow on the character development, it had character development definitely, but it was only an hour and a half so it just felt a little rushed. oh also i thought meagan fox was just a bit out of place and just boring.

all in all I'd def recommend it for at least a rental, its not a complete bust for sure.

haven't seen hex, but rather enjoyed gl. see them both and make your own opinion, then let us know what you think.

haven't seen Jonah Hex, no appeal from the trailers I'd seen.

Green Lantern I can assure you is garbage.

The movie was made like they were trying to hit every bullet point on a list and did the bare minimum to "check" it off.

The effects weren't impressive enough to merit the theater view and the performances were pretty wooden.

Sinestro was cool...

Green Lantern is good, Jonah Hex is really, really, bad!

I really don't know about Jonah Hex... haven't seen it and from what I saw in the trailers, there's nothing that makes me really anxious to know what I'm missing.

Green Lantern on the other hand, was very entertaining! It certainly wasn't the best movie in the world... but it was still a fun ride! The visuals are stunning enough to take the time to watch.

I'd say if you have the time and the money, watch 'em both!

Hey, I enjoyed Green Lantern! It wasn't anything great story-wise, but the effects and characterisations were fanatastic! Plus, Jango Fett (or at least the actor) plays Abin-Sur... Being in the tiny, backwater African country that I live in though, Jonah Hex probably won't even be released here! :P

Well, It's got John Malkovich in it. I liked that part.

It was almost exactly like Wild Wild West, minus the gigantic spider.

I liked a lot of it, but it's not amazing by any standards, nor does it follow the comics;

Haven't seen Jonah Hex, but Green Lantern was an unmitigated disaster and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

I thought Jonah Hex was pretty terrible and I also thought GL was fantastic. I really don't know why these movies generate such polar reactions. My beef with Jonah Hex was that it was pretty boring and had a good cast, it's worth watching though. I've read the reviews of GL and really don't know what people are expecting from movies lately. I was throughly entertained (which I thought was the purpose of films) and thought they did the characters justice.

In my opinion it's not as bad as people generally let know. I like old Jonah Hex comics and was a little bit let down because of that (no devileye - stupid idiots - one crazy contactlense would have made world of difference) but otherwise it was fast paced modern-action-western with Megan Fox in it. Not the best story ever told but still kept me entertained better than Transformers 2 for example.

I got Jonah Hex as a free rental from Redbox and, as far as this can go, it was okay for a free movie.

It was mindless entertainment. Brolin was a pretty good Hex but that was about it for acting. Megan Fox sucked. How she keeps getting work is beyond me. Everyone else was just kinda there. It had some fun action scenes, some good humor.
It ain't one to run out and get, but if it comes to you freely. Watch it.

That pretty much sums up Green Lantern for me too. Don't worry about hitting the cinema to see it. You ain't missing anything waiting for a rental or free.

i have one big jonah hex comic book and i have seen the film, well the movie is more fast pacer but if you like gatling guns in horse or crossbows that shoots dynamite its your movie...

Jonah Hex... redeeming quality?

Josh Brolin plays him well, and the make-up is pretty gnarly.

no its natural, its like feeling compeled to poke the sores in your
mouth with your tunge. You know its silly and only make things
worse... but you just gotta

Green Lantern was fun...Jonah Hex was HORRIBLE. And i pretty much like any movie...Hex was just awful though.

I couldn't even get through the entire movie.

Well, it's got it's funny moments--one of the first scenes with Hex on his horse was BRILLIANT. Brolin himself plays a really solid Hex, and there are some fun steampunk elements. I'm not sure if I'd wholeheartedly recommend the movie, but I wouldn't try to turn someone away from watching it either. I can think of FAR WORSE movie adaptations.
jimmymcwicked Featured By Owner Jul 5, 2011  Professional Filmographer
see, this is what i was thinking - you mention 'funny'. so i wonder if it is meant a winky cheesy movie, or if it is so misguided that it is funny?

i am not a fan of brolin (though i don't really have a reason as to why not). also, i am a huge unfan of anything steampunk... i am a follower of traditional westerns, so i really wonder if this movie will rub me the wrong way and cause irreparable damage to my fragile psyche.

i must add that i always love malkovich.

thanks very much for your reply!

To be fair, it's kind of a dark humor. In one of the first scenes has Jonah facing off against five guys. He notes three coffins sitting on the side nearby and says, "Three coffins. You shoulda brought eight." That made me and my dad laugh a bit.

But yeah, it's definitely not a traditional western in that there's some "semi-future elements." The plot revolves around a boat machine that shoots super-powered bombs, described as a nation killer. One action sequence has Jonah shooting crossbow rifles that shoot sticks of lit dynamite. Stuff like that.

No problem--I kinda have a feeling this is one of those movies where you bring a few friends and a six-pack with you to make up your own entertainment to go with it.

Well, haven't seen Green Lantern yet but I can assure you that Jonah Hex is probably in my Top 10 Worst Films of All Time....

Good luck if you watch it!
jimmymcwicked Featured By Owner Jul 5, 2011  Professional Filmographer
thanks for your reply, great fcagno! is it bad as in a bad movie or as in a disconect from its comic book source material?

(i am curious of your top ten worst, for context!)
FelipeCagno Featured By Owner Jul 5, 2011  Professional
Well, I can't really say I'm a big fan of the comics but Jonah Hex is just an awful movie, I don't think there's anything positive to it, maybe Megan Fox in Cancan attire but not really much more.

My top ten worst include for instance Dr. T and the Women, Wolverine Origins, Elektra was pretty bad too and Batman & Robin. I'm sure there are others but those are off the top of my head.

You can see three comic book movies up there because I'm really annoyed when they screw up amazing source material, I feel the same way about Jonah Hex ;)

I hope that helps, pal!
