so a few days ago a few rumour-type details surfaced about a proposed fifth indiana jones movie... i totally feel nothing about it in regards to anticipation. i gots no faith in that combination of people to do anything of any value.
years ago i was 'lucky' enough to see an advance screening of the first tomb raider movie - the theater was packed with eager nerds (including me) buzzing beforehand... then the movie played... a silent shuffle out the door - no one spoke, heads were hung low... 'how could they have screwed that up?' i wondered, 'just come up with a clever mcguffin, lift the structure of raiders of the lost ark and stick in lara croft'.... in spite of this shocked and dumfounded reaction of myself and this particular audience, the movie ended up a hit. muddled plots, cardboard characters, zero motivations and X-TREME CG worked as a road to success.
those mummy movies missed the point too... yet were huge hits, of course...
as we can remember, before the crystal skull movie came out, we were all hopeful... but that movie resulted in making the tomb raiders and mummies look good in comparison.
raiders of the lost ark is still one of the best action movies ever made, yet indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull is the worst.
....just...so...tired....to...think......of....another....disappointment.......
HOWEVER! none of this indiana jones crap matters, as i just bought the new DVD of the TALES OF THE GOLD MONKEY series. so far, 10 minutes into the first ep, it slaps up all these bloated and shameful theatrical nightmares from the last decade.
