no, i'm not talkin' the daniel craig listless and droning card-playing movie. nor not specifically the weird-o '67 movie (of which i haven't bothered), but rather the theme from it. the glory existing with the title "CASINO ROYALE" is the vocal version of this theme. i'd been listening to the instrumental herb alpert & the tijuana brass version for years but only recently have discovered the vocal version. really amazing lyrics and delivery laid atop the jaunty arrangement of herb's. especially great is the strange al jolson-like intro. though i'd not call this theme the best james bond theme, as it doesn't really jive with the standard movie series...
...no, the best theme is from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", which is also one of the best james bond movies altogether. Sir George Lazenby IS james bond. more than any other before or since. the fact he only did one in the series is a popular-culture tragedy matched only by no sixth season of the brady bunch, marvel's secret wars II and vince guaraldi's discovery of the fender rhodes piano.
that's all...
